The Medical Curriculum at the School of Medicine is a six years program, consisting of 1 Pre-Medicine, 2 Pre-Clinical and 3 Clinical years. In the first three years, the students take courses at Walailak University, Thasala, Nakhon Si Thammarat, while the last three years students will practice Clinical skills at the affiliated hospitals which are Trang Hospital and Vachiraphuket Hospital. Enrollment is open to all Mathayom Sueksa six students who wish to devote the extensive time and effort necessary to practice medicine. These students should come from Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, and Phuket provinces. The academic program leading to the M.D. degree is designed to produce graduates with professional competencies. Prior to graduation, each student enrolled in the Medical Program is expected to:

Acquire current knowledge of Basic Medical Science through an interdisciplinary approach to the understanding of the processes that support normal development, structure and function of the human organism as well as the pathology of organ systems, in order to apply for the recognition and management of the diseases.

Understand the impact of the various stages of life, as well as the effects of gender, life style, socio-economic status, nutritional factors, genetic characteristics, psychosocial and epidemiologic factors, and culture upon the human health

Understand the fundamental concepts of continuity of care, preventive care, rehabilitative care, health promoting and end-of-life, in addition to the diagnosis of acute medical problems, and be able to apply these concepts to Clinical practice on a local, regional, or national level.

Demonstrate the ability to evaluate, interpret the published findings, medical informatics, evidence-based medicine and to apply for the solution of medical problems and making effective decisions.

Demonstrate skills in communication and interpersonal skills when interviewing patients and explaining the necessity for patient compliance. The student must also demonstrate appropriate physical examination skills, proper use of instruments and application of manual techniques and skills in utilization of laboratory resources, and be able to order appropriate tests and interpreting those values.

Manifest self-awareness, self-care, self-assessment, self- respect and personal growth sufficient to be a role model for others.
